Diamondback Blemished AR10 .308 Upper & Lower Set

This stripped upper receiver & Armalite lower receiver combo set has slight cosmetic blemishes which don't affect its functionality. Blemishes could include:

  • Anodizing missing from the inside of the magwell
  • Pin sized hole on the left side of the magwell near the bolt catch roll pin relief area
  • General scratches

The set features Armalite pattern on the lower receiver, which uses an Armalite lower parts kit. Magpul .308 magazines will work with these lowers.     Happy with my purchase

    The lower I got had missing anodizing and some rough metal inside the magwell. Took about 5 minutes with a jeweler's file and some alumablack to fix it. The finish on the lower was slightly more shiny than the finish on the upper, but after putting the rifle together isn't really even noticeable. For the excellent price, I got better than I expected. Very happy with the purchase. Fit between the upper and lower are excellent, tight but not so tight it's hard to release the takedown pin. As others have mentioned, use DPMS style parts for the upper (DPMS High handguard) and Armalite A Series lower parts and you'll be golden.     It's an Armalite

    First off it's an Armalite pattern with a DPMS thread. Second you can use the armalite type A lower parts kit you don't need proprietary pins from diamond back. Built a one this pat fall in 6.5 creedmore and its a tack driver upper and lower fit nice and tight on the front take down pin which is were the accuracy comes from. The blemish took myself and a fellow gunsmith 10 minutes to find. Great set for a great price, if ypu are ready to step you from ar15 builds and are ready to do a little research then this is a build for you.

    Learning experience

    Love the people at R2B and this set is at an excellent price. BUT.... Some things to know about this Diamondback setup. It's an Armalite pattern that takes DPMS barrel, BCG and mags. The take down pins are Diamondback proprietary. AR10 style bolt catch and I recommend the longer threaded mag release. All other parts are normal everyday AR15 parts. Handguard is Armalite / DPMS tall. Mine had finish flaw you had to look for in the light. I did however have to dremel out the pocket for the mag release button to get it to go in far enough to install the release. This became my first AR10 build. I would use it again but for the proprietary takedown pins. As I prefer more conventional off the shelf parts but in the AR10 world that isn't always the case.

    Hell of a deal, needs love

    First thing, this is an armalite pattern set with a dpms high rail height as well as a dpms thread. ARMALITE lower parts kit, aero/dpms/cmg won't work. As others have said, the fitment isn't perfect. There is a small gap between the upper and lower at the rear shelf, but it's similar to my armalite ar10A fitment speaking. The fitment isn't loose but it isn't what most people dream of either. There's a small bit of movement, but if you're concerned with it you shouldn't be buying a blem set of anything. This set is an amazing deal at $130, Ive had to mess with some areas of the mag release but that's it. I've put both dpms and armalite BCGs in my upper and the dpms fit well, and so did the armalite although slightly better. In conclusion, use an armalite lower kit, a dpms high handguard, and a bcg that is speced to the same spec barrel (dpms bolt with dpms barrel extension) If you're debating on this set as a cheap way to get into an 308 build, just do it.

    Good set for little money

    Mine had a pinhole by the bolt catch recess. The fit isn't tight or loose so has some wiggle. I used a Toolcraft 6.5 Creedmoor BCG and a Dracos barrel, paired with a Lancer handguard I was GTG. Only lower part i bought from Diamondback was the pins. Everything else was standard parts so was an easier build then expected.

    Good deal

    So this appears to be based on the matrix pattern, pointed out to me by someone 308ar.com. The upper and lower are different blacks. The inside of the magwell front and rear do not have coating on them. The barrel barrel to receiver extension fit was a tight, easy in but a B to get out, not a bad thing. The barrel nut is a DPMS thread pitch @ 16tpi. It is a blem, but for the money it is a great deal.

    DB10 Set

    You need to order the Lower Parts Kit from Diamondback because it is setup to work with your lower. The BCG and handguard you will have to order from Diamondback as well because a normal DPMS style BCG will not work and the handguard is one of the few that works for it. I got the buffer tube, spring, and buffer for a 308 rifle from CBC industries and put a roger's super stock on it. The ejection port cover has to be for a 308 and you can use an ar15 forward assist if you want. Now for the barrel. You can get one from Diamondback and know it works or do some research to make sure it will work. I ordered a 20" stainless steel barrel from Bear Creek Arsenal. 308 don't have mil-spec standards like the normal AR-15. Most of the parts for them are proprietary based on the manufacturer. I will have between $700-$800 in my rifle when it is done and that doesn't include an optic. The blem is the color between the upper and lower.

    first AR 10 build

    This was a great deal and allowed me to build a budget AR10? I found that there was a lot of different comments on what is an AR10 and what doesn't work with what. Here is what worked for me. I put a 16" LR .308 Winchester barrel on this upper with a Diamond Back free float 9.5" hand guard. I bought a Brownells .308 LR BCG to match up with the barrel. What I found is that if you match barrel and BCG it works. I put an Armalite LPK in the lower. Attached a carbine buffer tube kit just make sure it's the .308 buffer for a carbine. I have 100 rounds through the rifle and topped it off with SigSauer 3X9 scope...
