Aero Precision Upper Receiver - Slick Side & No Forward Assist

This assembled upper receiver from Aero Precision features a port door already installed, but does not have any forward assist provisions. Forged from 7075 T6 heat-treated aluminum, this AR15 upper receiver is precision-machined to military specifications for M16 and M4 rifles. It features M4 ramps, .250 takedown pin holes, and laser-engraved T-marks.

    These are not my only Aero no FA uppers, but I wish I had gotten all of them at RTBA&S, as they were priced right & shipped fast. The forward assist is a useless part on semi-auto AR15s. If a round fails to chamber in full-auto, the trigger will reset & you can resume firing when you mash the FA. With a semi, you'll only know about a round not chambering when the hammer falls onto the underside of the bolt carrier & you will need to cycle the action anyway to re-cock the rifle. Aero makes good stuff, & this is no exception. Fitment was tight on the lower, barrel was snug & finish was excellent. One thing I noticed with all my Aero uppers is the barrel nut indexes better: I was having to stone the receiver a little to get proper alignment for the gas tube within torque specs on other brands of upper. I retro-fitted all my other guns with these uppers recently & am pleased with the quality & function of these parts.

    Great idea

    Almost all of my retro ARs are slick sided, so when I saw this at an attractive price I jumped on one. So far, the barrel and barrel nut fit is as expected, the finish is uniform, and the port door (dust cover) fits securely. I'll know more about the upper rail, etc. once the upper build is complete, but I anticipate zero issues.

    It's a nice upper love the no forward assist but, this does not work with the cmt tactical handguards.
