20" 5.56 HBAR Rifle Length Match Grade Barrel

Contractor overrun special!

This 20 inch heavy barrel comes with a match grade crown and was supplied to us as surplus overruns from a well-known contractor within the industry. They are machined out of 4150 blanks and have a Melonite finish. There are no markings on this barrel, and it is not threaded for a muzzle device. These barrels are perfect for precision bench rest shooting and for states that require an HBAR configuration.

    Great buy. Glad I got one.

    I got this last week and installed it on my Ares upper. Great looking barrel right out of the box. No cosmoline, just a nice melonited barrel wrapped in a fishnet-style plastic sleeve. Went to the range today to sight my rifle in. Shot five groups. Three of them I shot for accuracy (the other two were simply for scope adjustments). The three I shot for accuracy were 9/16, 3/8, and 5/16 inches at 50 yards, so I think I made a good decision to but this barrel.

    Mystery barrel

    Took this barrel to the range and ran 15 different types of ammo through it, had many sub moa groups and ran like a champ. I shot 50g up to 77g bullets, it liked them all! Ran the camera down the bore and everything looks great, very nice machining. Seems gassed properly, not overly heavy and shoots as good or better than my Criterion barrel. Highly reccomend this barrel.

    20" 5.56 HBAR Rifle Length Match Grade Barrel

    The barrel arrived today with no damage. It was wrapped in thick paper and packaged fairly well. A few things I noticed in the barrel when it arrived verses the listing here is 1) to my eyes, the barrel is parkerized instead of being melonite coated 2) on the listing it said it had rifle feed ramps, but it actually has M4 feed ramps, 3) the rifle did have one dimple on the back side of the gas port for lining up your gas block, which some people like though it was irrelevant to my use but it would have been nice to know 4) there are no markings on the barrel to indicated twist ratio or caliber (5.56 or .223) which they did say it was unmarked. After cleaning up the barrel, the rifling looks clean and sharp, with good grooves, and the target crown is very nicely done. Personally I believe this barrel will be a very good shooter, accurate and well worth the money. Only giving four stars for now- but if it holds up and shoots well I will be back to give it a further review.

    Extremely impressed

    I bought this for a service match rifle. The price is stupid low for this purpose so I knew I was taking a huge chance and may end up having to pay another $200+ for a name brand match barrel if this one didn't work out. I'm SO glad I took the chance. After working through the break in, the first three three round groups with this barrel at 100 yards were 15/16", 5/8" and 1/2". This was with good, but not match quality ammo and I was using my range bag as a rest. Definitely a sub-moa rifle here. Possibly 1/2moa. Just as good of performance as I got from my last match rifle which had a $200+ White Oaks match barrel. I can't speak to consistency, but the barrel I got was a great buy. Performance on par with my hopes rather than my expectations.

    Great barrel !

    Bought two of these on a whim. I am a long time builder of AR's and found this barrel on line at a great price. Bought two. They are Green Mountain barrels and are a fantastic buy at this price ! If you are looking for a HB this is one to strongly consider ! Barrels come in heavy cosmoline, so they have been in storage for a while but a little Hoppes and some elbow grease will net you a really nice barrel for about half the going price ! I built 1 rifle out and posted my results on my FB page A friend wanted the second after seeing the pics. They are not lightweight but if your looking for a tackdriver......

    Sweet barrel!

    Barrel needed to be cleaned pretty good but works like a champ! 3/4" groups with std. 62gr m855 ammo,cant wait to try some good ammo!at the price you just cant beat it!
